Today’s story

Darkness and judgment surround Judah, yet Isaiah announces a great light and a coming Child whose rule will bring lasting peace.

Paul learns that Christ's grace is sufficient and that divine power is displayed through human weakness.

David brings betrayal, fear, and anguish to God instead of carrying them alone.

Do not wear yourself out chasing wealth; riches can disappear quickly.

The story in children’s words

God told Isaiah that a strong enemy army would come like a flood, because the people refused God's gentle waters. Isaiah said he would wait for the LORD and trust Him, for God is with us. Then God gave joyful news: people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. A child would be born, a son given, and He would be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His kingdom of peace would never end. Paul said a painful thorn was given to him, and he begged the Lord three times to take it away. God answered, "My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." That child of promise is Jesus, the Prince of Peace, whose grace is enough for us when we are weak.

It points to Jesus

The promised Child and Paul's sufficient Lord meet in Jesus. He is the Light in darkness, the King of peace, and the One

whose strength is enough when ours is not.

Talk about it

How can weakness become a place where Jesus is seen more clearly?
