Day 256 · September 11
Kids Corner — Day 256
Isaiah 12:1–14:32 · 2 Corinthians 13:1–14 · Psalm 57:1–11 · Proverbs 23:9–11
Today’s story
Isaiah moves from a song of salvation into judgment against proud kingdoms. Babylon may rise, but no human empire can rival God's rule.
Paul closes with a call to examine ourselves, pursue restoration, live in peace, and receive the grace of Christ, love of God, and fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
David takes refuge under God's wings until danger passes and chooses praise before circumstances change.
Do not waste wisdom on those determined to despise it, and never steal from the defenseless.
The story in children’s words
God's people sang, "God is my salvation. I will trust and not be afraid." With joy they would draw water from the wells of salvation. Then God said proud Babylon would fall and never be lived in again, and its king who wanted to climb above God's stars would be brought down low. God would have mercy on Jacob and give His people rest in their own land. Paul ended his letter by telling the believers to test themselves, live in peace, and greet one another with love. He blessed them with the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is our salvation, and in Him God's anger turns away and He comforts us.
It points to Jesus
Earthly kingdoms rise and fall, but Jesus reigns. Paul's closing blessing also lets us glimpse the beautiful work of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in the life of the church.
