Kids Corner — Day 258
Isaiah 19:1–21:17 · Galatians 2:1–16 · Psalm 59:1–17 · Proverbs 23:13–14
Today’s story
Isaiah shows God ruling even over Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, and other nations. Remarkably, former enemies are pictured receiving God's blessing.
Paul defends the truth that people are made right with God through faith in Jesus Christ, not by keeping the law.
David asks for deliverance from violent enemies and sings of God's strength and faithful love.
Wise correction aims to rescue a life from destructive folly.
The story in children’s words
God said Egypt's idols would shake and its river would dry up, and a fierce king would rule over it. But one day Egypt would cry to the LORD, and He would send them a savior and defender to rescue them. Then Egypt, Assyria, and Israel would worship together, and God would call Egypt "my people." Isaiah walked barefoot as a sign, and a watchman cried, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon!" Paul went to Jerusalem, and the leaders gave him and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship to go to the Gentiles. When Peter stopped eating with Gentile believers out of fear, Paul told him plainly that was not right. Paul said no one is made right with God by obeying the law, but only by faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Savior God promised even to Egypt, and everyone is made right by trusting Him.
It points to Jesus
Isaiah sees blessing reaching beyond Israel, and Galatians explains how: sinners are justified through faith in Christ. The family of God is built by grace, not human achievement.
Talk about it
Why is justification by faith such good news for ordinary people?
