Isaiah 28:14–30:11 · Galatians 3:23–4:31 · Psalm 62:1–12 · Proverbs 23:19–21
Today’s story
Judah makes false alliances and refuses God's quiet way of trust. Yet God lays a sure cornerstone in Zion that will not fail.
Paul says the law served as a guardian until Christ. In Jesus, believers become God's children and heirs rather than slaves.
Wait quietly before God; power and faithful love belong to Him.
Wisdom warns against drunkenness, gluttony, and habits that slowly impoverish life.
The story in children’s words
The rulers of Jerusalem trusted in lies and said death would not touch them. God said He was laying a precious cornerstone in Zion, a sure foundation, and whoever believes will not be shaken. Like a wise farmer, God knows how to care for each kind of seed in the right way. The people honored God with their lips, but their hearts were far away, and they ran to Egypt for help instead of asking God. Paul said the law was like a teacher that led us to Christ. When the right time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, to set us free and make us God's children. Now God's Spirit in our hearts cries, "Abba, Father!" Jesus is that precious Cornerstone, and all who trust in Him are God's own children.
It points to Jesus
Isaiah's cornerstone and Paul's Son come together in Jesus. He is the sure foundation, and through Him slaves become sons and daughters who can call God Father.
Talk about it
How should knowing we are God's children change the way we live?
