Kids Corner — Day 262
Isaiah 30:12–33:9 · Galatians 5:1–12 · Psalm 63:1–11 · Proverbs 23:22
Today’s story
Judah keeps looking to Egypt, but salvation is found in returning and resting in God. The LORD longs to be gracious and promises righteous rule.
Christ has set believers free. Paul warns them not to return to a system of earning righteousness.
David thirsts for God in the wilderness and finds His faithful love better than life.
Listen to your parents and honor the wisdom of age.
The story in children’s words
God told His people, "In returning and rest you will be saved. In quietness and trust is your strength." But they said no, and wanted to run away on fast horses. Still, God waited to be kind to them, and He promised to hear their cry and teach them, "This is the way. Walk in it." He would protect Jerusalem like a bird hovering over her nest. God also promised a king who would reign in righteousness, and when His Spirit is poured out, the desert will become a fruitful field and His people will live in peace. Paul said, "Stand firm in the freedom Christ has made us free with, and do not go back to being slaves." What matters is faith working through love. Jesus is the righteous King who sets us free, and His strength is found in quiet trust.
It points to Jesus
Jesus offers freedom, not another form of slavery. Isaiah says strength is found in quiet trust; Galatians says freedom is found in Christ. Both confront our instinct to save ourselves.
Talk about it
What does Christian freedom free us from - and free us for?
