Day 260 · September 15
Kids Corner — Day 260
Isaiah 25:1–28:13 · Galatians 3:10–22 · Psalm 61:1–8 · Proverbs 23:17–18
Today’s story
Isaiah celebrates God's victory: He will swallow up death, wipe away tears, and provide a feast for His people. Yet proud hearts still resist His word.
Paul explains that the law exposes the curse of sin, but Christ redeemed us by becoming a curse for us.
From the end of the earth, the psalmist asks God to lead him to the Rock higher than himself.
Do not envy sinners; continue in reverence for the LORD because there is a future hope.
The story in children’s words
Isaiah praised God, who is a shelter for the poor in the storm and a shade from the heat. On God's mountain He will make a great feast for all peoples. He will swallow up death forever and wipe away tears from all faces. God's people will say, "This is our God! We waited for Him, and He saved us!" God keeps in perfect peace the one who trusts in Him, for He is an everlasting Rock. He also promised that the dead shall live and rise and sing. Paul said Christ took the curse of the law for us when He hung on the tree, so Abraham's blessing could come to all nations. God's promise to Abraham was about his one Offspring, who is Christ. Jesus took our curse so we could receive God's blessing by faith.
It points to Jesus
Isaiah sees death defeated; Galatians tells us how sinners are rescued from the curse. Jesus bears the curse at the cross and opens the future where death and tears do not win.
Talk about it
How does the cross show both the seriousness of sin and the greatness of grace?
