Today’s story

God promises a new thing, declares that He alone is Savior, and even uses Cyrus for His purposes. The Creator remains Lord over history.

Paul reveals the mystery: Gentiles share fully in Christ's promise. He prays that believers will grasp the immeasurable love of Christ and be filled with God's fullness.

God rises, scatters enemies, cares for the vulnerable, and leads His people in victory.

Do not envy violent people or desire their ways.

The story in children’s words

God told His people, "See, I am doing a new thing!" He promised to make a road through the desert and rivers in the dry land for them. Even though His people had sinned and had grown tired of Him, God said, "I Myself blot out your sins, and I will not remember them." He even raised up a king named Cyrus to set His people free and rebuild their city. Paul prayed that we would know how wide and long and high and deep the love of Christ is. He said God can do far more than we can ever ask or think. The God who makes rivers in the desert sent Jesus, whose love is too big to measure.

It points to Jesus

Isaiah says there is no Savior besides the LORD. Paul shows God's saving plan opening wide through Christ. Jesus is not a local hope; His love reaches people from every nation.

Talk about it

What would change if I truly believed Christ's love is deeper than I can measure?
