Day 266 · September 21
Kids Corner — Day 266
Isaiah 41:17–43:13 · Ephesians 2:1–22 · Psalm 67:1–7 · Proverbs 23:29–35
Today’s story
God promises water for the thirsty and introduces His chosen Servant, who brings justice gently. He tells His people, 'Fear not,' because He created, redeemed, and calls them His own.
Paul moves from death to life: saved by grace through faith, created for good works, and reconciled into one new people through Christ.
The psalm asks God to bless His people so His saving way will be known among all nations.
Alcohol can deceive, wound, and enslave; wisdom refuses to romanticize what destroys.
The story in children’s words
God promised water in the desert for the poor and thirsty, with trees growing where it was dry. He showed His Servant, chosen and filled with His Spirit, who would bring justice to the nations. That Servant would be gentle: He would not break a bruised reed or put out a tiny, smoking flame. He would open blind eyes and set prisoners free, as a light for the nations. Then God said, "Do not be afraid, for I have bought you back. I have called you by name. You are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the fire will not burn you." Paul said we were dead in our sins, but God, rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ — by grace we are saved, through faith, as God's gift. Jesus is that gentle Servant and our peace, who brings near those who were far away.
It points to Jesus
Isaiah's Servant brings justice to the nations, and Ephesians identifies our rescue: Jesus makes dead sinners alive and brings outsiders near by His blood. Grace creates a new people.
