Day 273 · September 28
Kids Corner — Day 273
Isaiah 60:1–62:5 · Philippians 1:27–2:18 · Psalm 72 · Proverbs 24:11–12
Today’s story
Isaiah sees light rising over God's people, good news for the brokenhearted, and a restored people in whom God delights.
Paul calls the church to unity and humility, then points to Jesus: He humbled Himself, became obedient to death, and was exalted so every knee will bow.
Psalm 72 longs for a righteous king who defends the poor, brings peace, and rules to the ends of the earth.
Do not look away when others are being led toward harm; God knows whether we acted.
The story in children’s words
God said to His city, "Arise and shine, for your light has come!" Nations and kings would stream toward the brightness. Then came the most joyful words of all: "The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, to bring good news to the poor, to heal broken hearts, and to set the prisoners free." Many years later, Jesus stood up in His hometown and read those very words about Himself. Paul wrote that Jesus, though He was truly God, became a humble servant and obeyed His Father all the way to death on a cross. So God lifted Him up to the highest place, and one day every knee will bow to Him. Jesus is the Light who has come into the world, and we get to shine like little stars for Him.
It points to Jesus
Isaiah's anointed messenger, Paul's humbled and exalted Lord, and Psalm 72's righteous King converge in Jesus. He serves, saves, reigns, and will be acknowledged by all.
