Day 272 · September 27
Kids Corner — Day 272
Isaiah 57:15–59:21 · Philippians 1:1–26 · Psalm 71 · Proverbs 24:9–10
Today’s story
God dwells in holiness yet comes near to the humble. He exposes false fasting and injustice, promises light to those who live rightly, and declares that the Redeemer will come.
Paul writes from prison with joy because Christ is being proclaimed. Whether by life or death, his desire is that Christ be honored.
From youth to old age, the psalmist asks God not to abandon him so he can tell the next generation of God's strength.
Foolish schemes are sinful, and adversity reveals the depth of our strength.
The story in children’s words
God is high and holy, and He lives forever. Yet He also lives close to people who are humble and sorry for their sins, to give their hearts new life. God told His people that the worship He loves is not just skipping food for a day. It is sharing bread with the hungry, setting prisoners free, and caring for people who are poor. "Then your light will break out like the morning sun," He said. But Isaiah also said that our sins had made a wall between us and God. So God's own arm reached out to save us, and He promised that a Redeemer would come. Paul, writing from prison, said, "For me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Nothing could stop the good news from spreading. The Redeemer God promised is Jesus, and living for Him is worth everything.
It points to Jesus
Isaiah promises a Redeemer; Paul has met Him. Jesus is so precious to Paul that even prison cannot take away his purpose: to live is Christ.
Talk about it
What testimony about God's faithfulness should be passed to the next generation?
