The story in children’s words

God made a wonderful promise: "I will make a new covenant. I will put my law in their hearts and write it there. I will be their God, and they will be my people, and I will forgive their sins and remember them no more." While Jeremiah was shut up in prison and Babylon's army was all around the city, God told him to buy a field from his cousin and put the deed safely in a clay jar. It was a sign that one day houses, fields, and vineyards would be bought in the land again. Paul said leaders in God's house must be gentle, honest, and able to teach, caring well for their own families. Then he sang the great mystery: God was seen in the flesh, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and taken up in glory. That is Jesus, the heart of God's new promise.
