The story in children’s words

Jeremiah set bowls of wine before a family called the Rechabites, but they would not drink. Their father Jonadab had told them long ago never to drink wine or build houses, and they still obeyed him after all those years. God said, "This family obeys its father, but my people will not listen to me, though I speak to them again and again." Then Jeremiah had his helper Baruch write God's words on a scroll. King Jehoiakim cut the scroll into pieces and burned it in the fire, but God simply had Jeremiah write all the words again, with even more added. Paul taught Timothy to care for widows and families kindly, and to treat older men like fathers and younger people like brothers and sisters. God's word cannot be burned away, and His family cares for one another in love, just as Jesus taught.
