The story in children’s words

Even in Egypt, the people kept their promise to the false queen of heaven instead of listening to God, so God said only a few of them would ever come back home. But God had a kind word for Baruch, Jeremiah's helper, who was tired and sad. "Do not seek great things for yourself," God said. "I will let you escape with your life wherever you go." God also spoke against proud Egypt, whose armies would fall before Babylon, and against the Philistines, whose cities a flood of enemies would cover. Paul told Timothy to run after what is right, and to be gentle when he corrects others. He warned that hard times would come, when people love themselves and pleasure more than God. And he reminded Timothy that all Scripture is breathed out by God and teaches us how to live. The Bible Timothy learned as a little child points us to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
