The story in children’s words

Jerusalem, once full of people and great among the nations, now sat alone like a sad widow, weeping in the night with no one to comfort her. Her children were carried away, her gates were empty, and her people searched for bread. The city said, "The LORD is righteous, for I have rebelled against His word." Even the little children fainted with hunger in the streets, and God's anger lay heavy on the city He loved. Paul wrote a very different kind of letter, a gentle one, to his friend Philemon. A runaway servant named Onesimus had become a believer, and Paul sent him home, asking Philemon to receive him no longer as a slave, but as a beloved brother. "If he owes you anything, put it on my account; I will pay it back," Paul wrote. Jesus does something like this for us: He takes our debt as His own and makes us God's beloved family.
