Ezekiel 12:1–14:11 · Hebrews 7:1–17 · Psalm 105:37–45 · Proverbs 27:3
Today’s story
False prophets promise peace while rebellion continues. God exposes empty words and calls His people to truth.
Melchizedek's priesthood prepares us to see Jesus as the greater, enduring Priest.
God brought Israel out with joy.
Anger is heavy and destructive.
The story in children’s words
God told Ezekiel to pack a bag, dig through a wall, and carry his things out at night while the people watched. It was a living picture: the people of Jerusalem would have to leave their home and be taken far away. God also warned about prophets who made up their own words and told the people "Peace, peace," when there was no peace. God said His true words always come true, and not one of them will be delayed. He called His people to turn away from the idols in their hearts and come back to Him. The letter tells about Melchizedek, a king and priest who blessed Abraham long ago and had no beginning or end in the story. Jesus is a Priest forever, just like Melchizedek, and His life never ends. Jesus lives forever, so His priesthood will never stop.
It points to Jesus
Melchizedek's pattern points beyond temporary priesthood to Jesus, whose priesthood never ends.
