Day 312 · November 8
Kids Corner — Day 312
Ezekiel 18:1–19:14 · Hebrews 9:1–10 · Psalm 106:32–48 · Proverbs 27:10
Today’s story
Each person is accountable before God. He takes no pleasure in death but calls people to turn and live.
The earthly sanctuary points beyond itself. Access to God requires cleansing that human ritual cannot finally provide.
God remembers His covenant even when His people rebel.
Do not abandon faithful relationships in times of trouble.
The story in children’s words
The people had a saying: "The fathers ate sour grapes, and the children's teeth hurt." They meant the children were being punished for what their parents did. But God said, "No. Each person answers for his own sin." A good father may have a bad son, and a bad father may have a good son who chooses to do right, and God treats each one fairly. God said something so kind: "I have no joy when a sinner dies. I want him to turn back and live!" So God called out, "Turn back! Make a new heart, and live!" Then Ezekiel sang a sad song about Israel's princes, like lion cubs taken away in cages, and a vine torn up and planted in a dry land. The letter tells about the old tabernacle, where only the high priest could go into the most holy place, once a year, with blood. That old way was only a picture, waiting for Jesus, who would open the way to God for everyone who turns to Him.
It points to Jesus
Earthly worship points toward Jesus, whose blood cleanses the conscience and brings us into God's presence.
