Kids Corner — Day 314
Ezekiel 21:1–22:31 · Hebrews 10:1–17 · Psalm 108:1–13 · Proverbs 27:12
Today’s story
The sword of judgment comes against corruption, bloodshed, exploitation, and leaders who have forgotten God.
Jesus' single sacrifice perfects what repeated offerings could never finish. We can draw near with confidence.
With God we can face what is stronger than us.
The prudent see danger and take refuge.
The story in children’s words
God told Ezekiel that a sword was coming — the king of Babylon would march against Jerusalem. Ezekiel sighed and groaned with a broken heart because the news was so sad. God looked at Jerusalem and listed her sins: leaders who hurt people, people who forgot the poor, the widow, and the stranger, and no one who would stand up and do right. God said, "I looked for someone to stand in the gap for the land, but I found no one." He also said the crown would be taken away "until He comes whose right it is" — the true King who was still to come. The letter to the Hebrews tells us about that King: Jesus said, "Here I am, God — I have come to do Your will." Animal sacrifices could never take away sins, but Jesus offered His own body once for all and sat down at God's right hand. Jesus is the King whose right it is, and He stood in the gap for us.
It points to Jesus
The torn veil and finished sacrifice mean we can draw near through Jesus with sincere hearts.
