Kids Corner — Day 317
Ezekiel 27:1–28:26 · Hebrews 11:17–31 · Psalm 111:1–10 · Proverbs 27:15–16
Today’s story
Tyre's wealth and beauty become grounds for pride. Human splendor cannot make a creature divine or permanent.
Abraham, Moses, Rahab, and others show faith acting on God's promise even when obedience costs something.
God's works are great and worthy of grateful study.
Constant conflict wears relationships down.
The story in children’s words
Tyre was a rich city by the sea, like a beautiful ship loaded with treasures from many lands. Ships came from everywhere to trade with her, and her king grew proud. He said, "I am a god," but he was only a man, and God said strangers would bring the proud city down into the sea. Then Ezekiel sang a sad song for the king of Tyre, who had been beautiful and wise, like a shining angel in God's garden, until pride and sin were found in him and he was thrown down. But God also promised to gather His own people Israel back to their land, where they would live safely. The letter to the Hebrews remembers more people of faith: Abraham trusted God even when tested with Isaac, and God provided. Moses chose to suffer with God's people rather than enjoy Egypt's treasures, because he looked ahead to God's reward. By faith the walls of Jericho fell, and Rahab was kept safe. Jesus is worth more than all the treasures of proud Tyre, and faith in Him carries us through every test.
It points to Jesus
Faith is not vague optimism; it trusts God's promise enough to obey. Jesus is the fulfillment those witnesses awaited.
