Kids Corner — Day 326
Ezekiel 44:1–45:12 · 1 Peter 1:1–12 · Psalm 119:17–32 · Proverbs 28:8–10
Today’s story
Priests are called to holiness, and worship is ordered around God's presence rather than human preference.
Peter praises God for new birth into a living hope through Jesus' resurrection, even while believers suffer.
Ask God to open your eyes to wonders in His Word.
Greed and dishonest gain eventually harm the one who pursues them.
The story in children’s words
The east gate of the temple stayed shut, because the LORD Himself had come in through it. Then God gave rules for the priests who would serve in His house: the sons of Zadok, who had stayed faithful when others wandered away, could come near to God. The priests would teach the people the difference between holy and common, and God Himself would be their inheritance — better than land. God also set apart a holy portion of land for the temple and the priests, and He told the princes, "Enough! Stop taking the people's land. Use honest scales and fair measures." Peter writes to God's scattered people about a living hope: because Jesus rose from the dead, a treasure in heaven is kept safe for us, one that can never spoil or fade. Our faith is tested by fire like gold, but it is worth more than gold. The prophets long ago searched to learn about this salvation, and even angels long to look into these things. Jesus, whom we have not seen but love, gives us a joy too wonderful for words.
It points to Jesus
Peter's living hope and Ezekiel's holy worship meet in Jesus, whose resurrection secures an inheritance that cannot perish.
