Today’s story

Offerings and worship continue in the restored vision. God's people are to live under His holy order and generous provision.

Set your hope fully on grace. In Christ believers become living stones, a holy people, and a people who have received mercy.

God's Word strengthens and enlarges the heart.

Pride can blind us to our own need for wisdom.

The story in children’s words

God gave the rules for the offerings and feasts in His new temple. The prince would provide animals for the Passover feast and for the weekly day of rest, and a lamb would be offered every morning, day after day. The people would come in one gate to worship and go out by the other, and the prince would worship among them, not above them. God also said the prince must never take the people's land as his own — every family would keep its own possession. Peter tells us we were bought back, not with silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, the Lamb without spot, who was chosen before the world was made and shown to us in these last days. We are born again through God's word, which lives forever — while grass fades and flowers fall, God's word never ends. And Peter calls God's people living stones, built into a spiritual house, a royal priesthood belonging to God. The Lamb offered morning by morning in the old pictures points to Jesus, the forever Lamb, whose people are God's own treasured possession.

It points to Jesus

Jesus is the chosen cornerstone. In Him people who once had no identity become God's beloved people.
