Today’s story

God desires faithful love and true knowledge of Him, not empty religious performance. Israel keeps returning to idols instead of returning wholeheartedly to God.

John celebrates believers who walk in truth and faithfully support those who serve Christ, while warning against prideful control.

Past sorrow turns to laughter and harvest. Those who sow in tears can trust God with the harvest. Proverb Summary Leaders shape the moral climate around them; justice matters especially for the poor. Discover Jesus Jesus wants more than religious activity. He forms people who walk in truth, serve humbly, and bear fruit through faithful love. Reflect

Where has routine replaced wholehearted devotion to Christ? Fellowship Encourage someone whose faithful service may be largely unseen.

The story in children’s words

God's people said, "Come, let us go back to the LORD. He has hurt us, but He will heal us." But their love was like a morning cloud that soon went away. God said He wants mercy and kindness, not just gifts on an altar. The people kept breaking His promise, making idols, and trusting other nations instead of God. Their kings fell, and no one called on God. Still, God kept calling them to know Him and come back. John wrote to his friend Gaius, who walked in the truth and kindly helped traveling brothers. John said not to copy what is evil, but to copy what is good. Jesus shows us the good way, and His people help one another in love.
