Joel 1:1–3:21 · Revelation 1:1–20 · Psalm 128:1–6 · Proverbs 29:18
Today’s story
Joel uses disaster to call God’s people to repentance and then looks ahead to the outpouring of the Spirit, the day of the Lord, and God dwelling with His people.
Revelation opens by unveiling Jesus Christ: risen, glorious, present among His churches, and coming again.
The fear of the Lord shapes a blessed life of fruitful work, family, and peace. Proverb Summary Without God-given revelation people cast off restraint; blessing belongs to those who obey His instruction. Discover Jesus Jesus is the risen Lord - the First and the Last - who died, lives forever, holds the keys of death, and walks among His people. Reflect If Jesus is truly present among His churches, what should change in the way I worship and live? Fellowship Describe the picture of Jesus in Revelation 1 and what it reveals about Him.
The story in children’s words
Swarms of locusts ate everything green in Joel's land, and the fields and animals cried out for food and water. Joel called everyone, even the children, to cry to the LORD and turn back to Him with all their hearts. God promised to give back the lost years, send rain again, and pour out His Spirit on all people, old and young. He said everyone who calls on the LORD's name will be saved. Then John, on an island, heard a voice like a trumpet and saw Jesus standing among seven golden lamp stands. Jesus shone like the sun, and He told John, "Do not be afraid. I was dead, and I am alive forever and ever." Jesus is alive forever, and He holds the keys of death itself.
