Day 344 · December 8
Kids Corner — Day 344
Amos 1:1–3:15 · Revelation 2:1–17 · Psalm 129:1–8 · Proverbs 29:19–20
Today’s story
Amos announces judgment on the nations and then on God’s own people. Privilege does not remove accountability; knowing God increases responsibility.
Jesus speaks to Ephesus and Pergamum: hold firmly to truth, endure faithfully, repent where compromise has entered, and recover first love.
God’s people have been afflicted repeatedly, yet the Lord has cut the cords of the wicked. Proverb Summary
Words spoken too quickly can create more trouble than patient restraint. Discover Jesus Jesus is the Lord of His church. He sees endurance, doctrine, love, compromise, and repentance - and He calls His people back to Himself. Reflect Has my service for Jesus become separated from love for Jesus? Fellowship What would returning to our first love for Christ look like this week?
The story in children’s words
Amos was a shepherd, and God sent him with a strong message. God saw the nations hurting people and selling the poor for a pair of sandals. Even God's own people had turned from His law, so God said He would punish sin, because He had chosen Israel and brought them out of Egypt with love. Then Jesus sent messages to His churches. To Ephesus He said, "You work hard, but you have left your first love. Come back." To hurting Smyrna He said, "Be faithful, and I will give you the crown of life." To Pergamum He said to turn away from wrong teaching. Jesus knows His churches, He walks among them, and He calls each one back to love Him first.
