Day 354 · December 18
Kids Corner — Day 354
Haggai 1:1–2:23 · Revelation 11:1–19 · Psalm 139:1–24 · Proverbs 30:15–16
Today’s story
Haggai challenges returned exiles to put God first and rebuild His house. God promises His presence and points toward a greater future glory.
God preserves His witnesses, judges rebellious power, and announces that the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and His Christ.
God knows us completely - our thoughts, paths, words, and hidden places. The right response is invitation: search me and lead me. Proverb Summary Some appetites never say, “Enough.” Unchecked desire always asks for more. Discover Jesus Jesus is the coming King whose kingdom will fill the earth. Because He knows us completely, we can stop hiding and invite His searching light. Reflect What appetite competes with putting God first?
Fellowship Pray Psalm 139’s closing request for one another: search us, test us, and lead us.
The story in children’s words
God's people had come home, but God's house still lay in ruins while everyone built their own nice houses. Through Haggai, God said, "Think about your ways. Build my house." The leaders and the people obeyed, and God said, "I am with you." He promised the new house would shine with a glory even greater than the old one, and He would give peace there. Then John saw God's two witnesses speak His word. A beast killed them, but after three and a half days God's breath of life entered them, and they stood up and rose to heaven in a cloud. The seventh trumpet blew, and loud voices in heaven cried, "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever!" That King is Jesus, and He will reign forever.
