Today’s story

God appoints festivals to remind Israel of His faithfulness and promises to go before His people. In Exodus 24 the covenant is confirmed and sealed with sacrifice. Moses and Israel's leaders witness God's glory, and Moses remains on the mountain to receive God's instructions.

Jesus describes His glorious return and teaches that no one knows the exact day or hour. Rather than fear or speculation, His followers are called to remain watchful, faithful, and diligent as they serve Him.

David praises the Lord for turning sorrow into joy. God heard his cries and clothed him with gladness. Proverb Summary Wisdom warns that temptation leads toward destruction and calls God's people to listen and choose the way of life. Discover Jesus The covenant at Sinai pointed to a greater covenant. Jesus is the Mediator of the New Covenant. He gave Himself once for all and secured redemption for those who trust Him. The same Jesus has promised to return. Until then He calls us to faithful obedience, joyful hope, and steadfast service. Everything in today's reading points to Jesus. Reflect If Jesus returned today, what would you want Him to find you doing? How can you faithfully serve Him while you wait for His return? Fellowship Encourage one another to live with joyful expectation of Christ's return and remain faithful in everyday responsibilities.

The story in children’s words

God told His people to hold three big feasts every year to remember His goodness. He promised to send His angel ahead of them into the new land. The people promised to obey God, and Moses spent forty days and forty nights on the mountain with God. God showed Moses the plan for a special tent, called the tabernacle, so God could live among His people. Inside would be a golden box called the ark, a table, and a lamp with seven lights. Jesus told His friends that one day He will come back on the clouds, and everyone will see Him. No one knows the day or the hour, so Jesus says to be ready and keep doing good work. Being ready for Jesus means watching for Him every day.
