The story in children’s words

Aaron made his first offerings as priest, for himself and for all the people. He lifted his hands and blessed the people. Then God's glory appeared, and fire came from God and burned up the offering on the altar. All the people shouted for joy and bowed down low. But Aaron's two older sons brought fire that God had not commanded, and they died. God is holy, and those who come near Him must treat Him as holy. Jesus told stories about seeds growing quietly in the ground, and about a tiny mustard seed that grows into a big plant. Jesus calmed a wild storm with His words, and the wind and waves obeyed Him. He also set free a man who was filled with evil spirits, and the man went home and told everyone what Jesus had done. Jesus has power over storms and over every evil thing.

It points to Jesus

Leviticus shows the danger of approaching holiness on our own terms. In Mark, Jesus reveals divine authority over creation and evil. Through Him, we can draw near to the holy God.
