The story in children’s words
God gave His people special feast days all through the year. At Passover they remembered how God set them free from Egypt. On the day of trumpets, loud trumpets blew. On one very serious day, the people said sorry for their sins. At the feast in the harvest time, they camped and gave thanks for seven happy days. Every feast had offerings without any spot or flaw. Then the Bible gives the family line of Jesus, name after name. It goes back through King David, through Abraham, through Noah, all the way back to Adam, the son of God. Jesus did not come from nowhere. He came through the very family God had promised and promised again. Every feast and every name points to Jesus.
It points to Jesus
Numbers lays out the sacred calendar: Passover, the Feast of Weeks, the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement — festival after festival, sacrifice after sacrifice. The rhythm reminded Israel of God's redemption, yet every repeated offering whispered that permanent atonement had not yet arrived. Then Luke traces Jesus' genealogy backward past David and Abraham all the way to Adam, "the son of God" (Luke 3:38). Jesus steps directly into the human family tree. Where the first Adam fell and brought death to his descendants, Jesus enters our genealogy as the Last Adam — the true Passover Lamb the festivals were always pointing toward. David's confidence becomes ours: "He alone is my rock, my salvation, and my fortress. I will never be greatly shaken" (Psalm 62:2). It ALL points to Jesus.
