The story in children’s words

God drew the borders of the good land and named the leaders who would share it out fairly. He set apart cities for the Levites to live in. Six of those cities were safe places. A person who had hurt someone by accident could run there and be kept safe until the leaders could judge fairly. God wanted His land to be a place of fairness and mercy. In the New Testament, a man with a skin disease begged Jesus, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean." Jesus touched him and said, "I want to. Be clean," and the man was healed at once. Then friends lowered a man who could not walk down through a roof to Jesus. Jesus forgave his sins and made him walk home carrying his mat. Jesus has the power to forgive sins, and He is our safe place too.
