The story in children’s words

God's rules taught His people to be kind and honest. They must treat workers fairly, leave some food in the fields for poor people, and never cheat with false weights. God even turned Balaam's curse into a blessing, because He loved His people. Then a man asked Jesus, "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus told a story about a man who was beaten by robbers and left in the road. A priest and a Levite walked right past him. But a Samaritan stopped, cleaned his wounds, and paid for his care. Jesus said, "Go and do the same." Jesus shows us that a true neighbor is anyone who shows mercy, just as He shows mercy to us.
