Day 165 · June 12
Kids Corner — Day 165
1 Kings 12:20–13:34 · Acts 9:26–43 · Psalm 132:1–18 · Proverbs 17:6
Today’s story
Jeroboam creates counterfeit worship, and even a prophet who spoke God’s word disobeys it. Religious activity cannot replace obedience to God.
Barnabas welcomes Saul when others fear him. Peter heals Aeneas and raises Tabitha, and many turn to the Lord. Jesus continues working through His people.
God remembers His covenant and His promise concerning David’s line.
Family honor is a gift, but truth and faithfulness matter more than appearances.
The story in children’s words
King Jeroboam was afraid the people would leave him if they kept going to Jerusalem to worship. So he made two golden calves and said, "Here are your gods, Israel!" He set one in Bethel and one in Dan, and this became a great sin. A man of God came and cried out against the altar in Bethel. When Jeroboam stretched out his hand to seize him, his hand dried up and could not move, until the man of God prayed and God healed it. But on the way home, an old prophet lied to the man of God and tricked him into eating where God had told him not to eat. Because he disobeyed God's word, a lion killed him on the road. Still Jeroboam did not turn from his evil way. In Lydda, Peter said to a man who had been in bed eight years, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you," and he got up at once. In Joppa, a kind woman named Tabitha who made clothes for the poor became sick and died. Peter knelt and prayed, then said, "Tabitha, get up!" She opened her eyes and sat up alive, and many people believed in the Lord. Jesus still heals and gives life through His name.
It points to Jesus
False worship multiplies in Kings, but Acts shows the fruit of genuine faith in Jesus: healing, courage, generosity, and new life.
Talk about it
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
