Day 180 · June 27
Kids Corner — Day 180
2 Kings 15:1–16:20 · Acts 19:13–41 · Psalm 147:1–20 · Proverbs 18:4–5
Today’s story
King after king repeats the sins of earlier generations. Ahaz embraces idolatry and reshapes worship around pagan patterns. Compromise spreads when God’s Word is displaced.
Counterfeit spiritual power is exposed in Ephesus. The gospel disrupts idolatry and commerce because allegiance to Jesus changes what people worship and value.
God heals the brokenhearted, rules creation, and delights in those who hope in His faithful love.
Words can become deep waters; wisdom should be a life-giving stream.
The story in children’s words
Kings came and went quickly in Israel, and most of them did evil in God's eyes. One king was killed, and then the man who killed him was killed too. In Judah, King Azariah and his son Jotham did what was right, but then King Ahaz did very wicked things and turned away from God. Far away in the city of Ephesus, a silversmith named Demetrius made little silver temples for a false goddess. He stirred up a huge crowd against Paul, because Paul taught that gods made by hands are not gods at all. The crowd shouted in the theater for two hours, but a wise city leader calmed them down and sent everyone home. Kings and crowds come and go, but Jesus is the true God, not made by human hands, and His kingdom will never end.
It points to Jesus
The name of Jesus cannot be used as magic. Christ calls for real allegiance, and His lordship threatens every idol that competes for the heart.
Talk about it
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
