Day 181 · June 28
Kids Corner — Day 181
2 Kings 17:1–18:12 · Acts 20:1–38 · Psalm 148:1–14 · Proverbs 18:6–7
Today’s story
Israel finally falls to Assyria after generations of rejecting God. Hezekiah, however, trusts the LORD and removes idols - a bright contrast in a dark chapter.
Paul encourages believers and gives the Ephesian elders a moving farewell. He has served humbly and wants to finish the work the Lord Jesus gave him.
All creation is summoned to praise the LORD - from heavens and angels to kings and ordinary people.
Foolish lips invite conflict. Let Christ govern both our speech and our motives.
The story in children’s words
At last the sad day came. The king of Assyria captured Samaria, and God's people Israel were carried far away from their land. It happened because for many, many years they would not listen to God. They worshiped idols and broke His commands, even though He sent prophets again and again to call them back. Only Judah was left, and there a new king named Hezekiah did what was right in God's eyes. Paul kept traveling and preaching about Jesus. In one city a young man named Eutychus fell from a high window while Paul talked late into the night, but Paul embraced him, and his life came back. Then Paul said a tearful goodbye to his friends in Ephesus, and they cried because they knew they would not see his face again. Even when nations fall and friends must part, Jesus never leaves His people.
It points to Jesus
Israel’s collapse shows the end of persistent rebellion. Paul’s farewell shows another road: humble service, repentance, faith, and finishing the race with Jesus.
Talk about it
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
