Day 264 · September 19
Kids Corner — Day 264
Isaiah 37:1–38:22 · Galatians 6:1–18 · Psalm 65:1–13 · Proverbs 23:24
Today’s story
Hezekiah brings Assyria's threat before the LORD, and God delivers Jerusalem. Later, Hezekiah's sickness reminds him how dependent every life is on God.
Paul calls believers to restore gently, carry one another's burdens, sow to the Spirit, and boast only in the cross of Christ.
God hears prayer, forgives sin, and crowns the earth with abundance.
A wise child brings joy to a father.
The story in children’s words
King Hezekiah tore his clothes and went to God's house to pray when the Assyrian king threatened Jerusalem. He spread the enemy's letter out before the LORD and prayed, "Save us, so all kingdoms will know You alone are God." God answered that the enemy king would not even shoot an arrow at the city. That night God's angel struck down the enemy army, and the king went home. Then Hezekiah became sick and was told he would die, so he turned his face to the wall and wept and prayed. God heard him, saw his tears, and gave him fifteen more years, making the shadow on the steps go back as a sign. Paul said to carry one another's burdens, not grow tired of doing good, and boast only in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus bore our burden on His cross, and God hears us when we cry to Him like Hezekiah.
It points to Jesus
Hezekiah spreads the threat before God; Paul spreads his confidence at the foot of the cross. Jesus invites us to bring burdens to Him and then help carry the burdens of others.
